How wonderful it would be if we knew of all the needs and concerns of our members at all times! However, some of our most precious folks are not able to communicate their needs to us regularly, not generally because they are sporadically absent, but because health issues keep them from our fellowship for an extended or sometimes permanent basis.
Our Homebound Outreach Ministry uses home visits as a means to keep these precious individuals connected to what is going on at Abba’s House.
This effort has met with good success, but the need for personal contact simply outweighs the number of visitors available.
We have opened up the option for many visits to be made via telephone, encouraging our volunteers to call those individuals whose health issues allow them to remain at home and fully able to communicate. Our volunteers call and take time to pray with our homebound folks and report those contacts as actual touches from the ministry.
For those homebound who are unable to speak adequately by phone, we have developed a “PrayerGram” ministry under the leadership of Rev. Bob Medearis whereby one of our “PrayerGram” forms can be filled out with a “hand-written” prayer and mailed to one of our homebound individuals. These innovative options for outreach have been embraced in order that more frequent touches can be made to those who desperately desire some contact and attention from the church they love so much.
Does this outreach move your spirit? If so, please call the church office, and let us answer your questions about your own potential involvement in this vital ministry to those who should never be forgotten.
